I decided to try a batch of flasks where I screen print directly onto the slab that has had the folded paper pressed onto it and is ready to be press moulded.

The recipe for this print medium for direct printing onto a plastic slab is the simplest – heavy glaze medium plus under glaze or I’ve also used oxides.

I tested screen printing onto a slab of porcelain on Thursday with the screen no 1 that has the building sketch, stamps and 3 different font sizes of the text. I had to add a lot of the underglaze to make it work and I’m using cobalt, brown stain and black under glaze.

I’m putting them in a bisque fire and intend to then high fire them without glaze. I’ll test one flask first.
